The week ahead

A brand new week, what new things will it bring,
you have to go and see Caerphilly choir sing.
Thursday night is the final round of the contest,
and this weekend they were singing at their best.

Today will be hot, humid and very sticky,
if you need to chill, you'll find it very tricky.
Temperature's will rise to over 38 degrees,
and the coolest place, will be the Salty Seas.

Overheating in the Vale

Hot, sweaty cheeses in air-conditioned bars,
the Vale is covered with overheating cars.
The tarmac is melting and is sticky like glue,
and if you overheat there's not a lot you can do.

The recovery trucks are busy, there's a 4 hour wait,
and with so much traffic, they're normally 2 hours late.
So check your radiators and inspect it for leaks,
or a simple 1 hour trip could take many weeks.

It's hot and sticky

Cars are stranded everywhere,
boiling hot and difficult to repair.
The earliest rain will be in July,
everything's so dusty and dry.

So turn off taps, save water where you can,
if it doesn't rain soon there could be a ban.
There's not a single fan in any of the shops,
and everyone's praying for a few watery drops.

The Choir final

Caerphilly choir will be third on the stage,
they're totally prepared, know every page.
They're motivated, refreshed, ready to go,
each chord, each beat, everything they know.

They get up on the stage and sing perfectly,
everything in tune and in perfect harmony.
From start to finish, not one single fault,
and now they're waiting to hear the result.

Tears of expectation running down their face,
the votes are announced. They get 2nd place!

Charity cycle event

This weekend, about 200 people will spend,
Saturday riding their bike.
It gets you outdoors, it's for a good cause,
and you can ride as fast as you like.

It's time well spent, it's a charity event,
and the money goes to people in need.
It'll buy food, clothes and tools, things for schools,
and books to help people read.
