There was a little boy, who longed for a special toy,
and every single night he would pray,
Before he went to bed, this is what he said,
‘If I'm good, please remember me on Christmas day’.
He would clean his room, vacuum and broom.
He would wash the dishes, feed his hungry fishes.
He would finish his study, clean his shoes if muddy.
He would practice his guitar, wash his mother’s dirty car.
So every day he was good, did what he should,
helping people and being very nice,
Doing good deeds, planting lots of 'good' seeds,
always there if people needed advice.
He would cut the grass, do as he was asked.
He would fold his clothes, not pick his nose.
He would comb his hair, wear clean underwear.
He would not tell a lie, really, really try.
Now this little boy, really wanted this special toy,
it was this desire that kept him so good,
A few more days to go, a few more 'good' seeds to sow,
could he do it? Yes he certainly could.
He would be nice to his brothers, help others.
He would make his bed, do as he said.
He would try to be polite, not kick or fight.
He would help make tea, study hard in history.
This little boy had focus, no need for ‘hocus pocus’,
his reward would soon be in his hands,
Sound asleep in his bed, fluffy pillows under his head,
he had a dream, he now fully understands.
He dreamt of children crying, hungry, thirsty, dying,
desperate for something to eat and drink,
No ‘wish lists’ to Santa Claus, to busy with their cause,
their lives hanging on the brink.
Now this little boy, thought about this special toy,
and this night before going to bed,
He got down on his knees, said "please, please, please,
this Christmas, help other people instead".
This very special boy, didn't need this useless toy,
he had everything and so much more,
6 weeks later in the mail, he read a most amazing tale,
his Christmas present, posted through his door.
