Monday 24th December
Christmas day, Boxing day, days to remember,
The 24th and 25th, important days in December.
In the East they prepare and eat a family feast,
In the West, final shopping puts patience to the test.
Different religious nations, different celebrations,
with many not celebrating Christmas at all.
Whatever your belief, let's stop all world grief,
and each one of us break down a single wall.
Let's reach out to one other, a sister or brother,
and let them know, they're not on their own.
Send an email or letter, make them feel better,
or maybe just call them on the phone.
Tuesday 25th December
It's here, Christmas cheer, excited kids waking,
hooray, it's Christmas day, time for giving not taking.
The first family breakfast for fifty two weeks,
all together, this morning, everyone speaks.
So no matter what, remember what you've got,
it's not about the presents under the tree.
Share what's in your fridges, repair broken bridges,
and give your Love to everyone, for free.
Wednesday 26th December
Left over food, was Granddad really that rude,
and was Mother a little bit drunk.
Did we eat all those dips, did I kiss her on the lips,
and how did I get up onto this bunk.
Was that really me, with the fairy from the tree,
and I can't remember singing that song.
Now it's becoming clear, I just want to disappear,
was It really me wearing that thong.
Thursday 27th December
At last it's all over, I can put away that pullover,
and Grandma will give me back my room.
Auntie's flying back, I can play that hip hop track,
but I must reming her to take her broom.
I'm sure she is a witch, she makes my skin itch,
and the only colour she wears is black.
My pet spiders can relax, my fish are not snacks,
just 361 days left and then she's back.
Friday 28th December
Back to reality, a little bit of normality,
as things get back to being right.
Best china put away, three meals a day,
and my favourite telly without a fight.
I can wear baggy clothes, even pick my nose,
and can eat chinese take away,
I can leave crusts on my plate, go to school late,
and invite my mates over to stay.
Just another day, the credit card bill's on its way,
and maybe we did overspend.
Over £1,000 was spent, but at zero percent,
this card is my very flexible friend.
